BCTA has outstanding results in Nationals

Congratulations to all BCTA players who made it into Nationals in October 2012.

Alex Knight had a stellar tournament, coming back from a set and 0-4 down to capture the title 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 against Alfredo Perez!  Great comeback!  Alex also teamed up with Shaun Berman to finish 2nd in doubles.  Shaun had a great tournament as well with a 4th place finish in singles.  Gianlucca Massa finished 5th in the Boys 18's.

Meible traveled to Las Vegas to play the National Girls 14's where she won the doubles title and finished 3rd in singles!

BCTA has an amazing showing in State Doubles

BCTA sent almost 20 players to the State Doubles Championships in Daytona Beach and Orlando the weekend of September 22nd.  Congratulations go out to the following BCTA players Shaun Berman who captured the Boys 16's title with partner Stephen Madonia.  Scott Plutt and David Omsky captured third place with a win over Sean Chi and his partner Wyatt Lovera who finished 4th in the Boys 16's.  Paul Andrey Pierre-Louis came in 2nd in the Boy's 18s, Sarah Dreyfuss and her partner Alexis Franco finished 2nd in the Girls 16's.  In the Mixed Double 16's, Michael Plutt and his partner Mya Fuentes came in 3rd and Michael Heller and his partner finished 2nd in the Boys 12's.  Rounding out our amazing weekend was Meibel Chi and her partner Sasha Belaya came in 2nd in the Girls 14's!  What a great tournament from our amazing players!

BCTA alumni, Jeff Morris named All-SSC for 4th year in a row.

Another illustrious BCTA alumni, Jeff Morris, the 2010 conference player of the year, capped off one of the most decorated careers in Rollins history, going 18-3 overall and 6-0 in the SSC. Morris is a four-time All-Sunshine State Conference honoree, earning Freshman of the Year in 2009 and landing on the SSC First Team every year he played.  Go J-Mo!!

Brennan played a key role in the success of UNC's season.  For this reason he was named All-ACC first team for the 2nd year.

BCTA Alumni Audra Cohen named Coach of the Year at UNF

University of North Florida’s Audra Cohen nabbed the Coach of the Year honors, doing so in her first year with the Ospreys. Cohen led North Florida to its first-ever undefeated season in conference play and a 14-4 overall record.

Audra trained at BCTA and went on to play at Northwestern and University of Miami where she was the most decorated tennis player in UM history.  We couldn't be more proud.

BCTA Has Many Players Playing Division 1 Tennis

It's tennis season for our college players.  Each weekend we check on the results of our players.  We are watching Brennan Boyajian and Zach Hunter at UNC Chapel Hill, Jeff Morris at Rollins,  German Gonzalez at John's Hopkins, Zack McCourt at Princeton, Danny Riggs at Cornell, Dave Kelleher at Univ of Texas, San Antonio, Antonio Pena at Hofstra, Taylor Hollander at Binghamton and Amelia Martinez at Boston University. Also on our radar is Audra Cohen who is now the head coach of the Women's team at University of North Florida.

BCTA Scores some good results at Sectional

BCTA hosted the Boys 14s Sectional the weekend of November 5th.  Dimitri Salzmann won the Consolation backdraw!  Michael Plutt made it to the semis and finished in 6th place.

In the Boys 16's, Alex Knight came in second after losing the finals to Baker Newman.  Good job, Alex!  Gianlucca Massa came in 5th place in the Boys 18's.  G took out a couple of seeds to secure his 5th place finish.

Jake Thompson and Daniella Porges Rock our 8and10nis League

In our first 8and10nis League tournament, two BCTA players, Jake Thompson and Daniella Porges took both 1st and 2nd place in the 10 and under division.  Blake Stern, also of BCTA came in 2nd in the 8 and under division.  This league is a positive environment for players to gain match play experience before moving on to USTA tournaments.  It is also a great way for our Academy players to earn community service hours since they are on court helping the iittle ones during their matches.

BCTA Made a Great Showing at the State Doubles Championships

BCTA pulled some great results at the State Doubles Championships this past weekend.  It all started with Shea Brodsky and her partner, Courtney Colton winning the Girls 18's division.  In the Boy's 16's division we saw Shaun Berman and partner Bernard Tefel coming in 3rd place, followed by Paul Andrey Pierre-Louis and his partner, Nile Clark coming in 5th.  In the Boys 14's division Michael Plutt and David Omsky finished in 2nd place, Scott Plutt and his partner, Kaden Funk came in 3rd and Andrew Heller and partner Alan Sweet came in 5th place.  In the Girls 14's division, Danielle Obolevitch and her partner Maggie Dobinda fought to a 5th place finish.  In Boys 12's, Michael Heller and his partner Robert Slutsky had a hard fought battle to finish 2nd and in the Girls 12's, Arianna Oropeza and Taylor Kogan lost a close one to finish 6th.  In Mixed Doubles Division 14's, Andrew Heller and Shene Disbergen came in 3rd place, in Mixed 12's, Michael Heller and Emma Decoste came in 3rd place.

Shea Brodsky and her partner Courtney Colton paired up to take the State Doubles title in Altamonte Springs this weekend.  They beat Kristin Wiley and Bennett Dunn 7-5, 6-4 to clinch the title.

Gianlucca Massa wins Boys 16's National

Gianlucca Massa, a.k.a. G, won the National this past weekend in Delray Beach.  G beat the one seed, Javi Restrepo, 6-1, 6-2 to capture the title.  G and his partner Brice Arvon lost in the doubles finals 9-7.  All in all a great weekend for G and BCTA.

Congratulations to Blake Gregory for winning a Super Series this past weekend in North Miami.  This is Blake's first tournament win since moving to South Florida.

Lynn Chi Member of 2011 Fed Cup Championship Team

Lynn Chi made a major contribution to helping Team Florida win Fed Cup. They beat the Southern Section 4-2 in the final. Lynn won all her singles matches and all but one doubles match. Congratulations to Lynn and the Team Florida Fed Cup Team of 2011.

BCTA has some good results at Super National Clay Courts

Zack McCourt with partner Gordie Watson,  brings home the Gold with a doubles victory over Vikram Hundal and Alex Sidney in Delray Beach.  The match went three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.  This is Zack's 2nd Gold Ball this year and Bill's 41st Gold Ball in his coaching career. Lynn Chi took home the silver with her partner Chalena Scholl in Memphis at the Super National Clay Courts and Meible Chi won the South Backdraw of the Girls 12's Super Nats in Boca Raton.  Congratulations on your great efforts!

Princeton excited for McCourt to enter this Fall

PRINCETON - Princeton men's tennis head coach Glenn Michibata has announced the addition of three members of the Class of 2015 who will join the Tigers in the fall. "Zack has really turned it on since committing to Princeton," Michibata said. "He has raised his ranking to as high as 10th in the country and is now the highest ranked player in the U.S. that will enroll at an Ivy League school."

What a huge accomplishment!  We are so proud of you, Zack!
